Without a doubt, online writing is the best side hustle anyone can engage in for 2024. Moreover, making money through writing has never been easier than it is now.

The rise of artificial intelligence is gradually bringing significant advantages to human writers and storytellers. Companies that provide services and create products are placing more emphasis on genuine customer feedback than ever before.

They are even willing to pay for it.

When I started my second blog, it was simply to share design tutorials. Mainly about Canva and Adobe. It was about 4 years ago, right at the start of the pandemic.

Since my first WordPress blog had failed, I decided to adopt a simpler approach. My budget was $0.

What I had was a plan and a different mindset.

Influencers and bloggers have been promoting fancy services. I completely understand. It's affiliate marketing. The best way to make money. However, this time I was determined to stick to my guns. The only investment I made was time to think. My wallet remained untouched for a long time.

1、BLOGGER.COM

I started my second blog on Blogger. I know, it's not very professional, but guess what? My readers don't care.

What matters is that they got what they wanted.

Thirty days later, my blog became profitable through AdSense. I started making money. Not a lot. I was averaging about $0.50 per 1,000 impressions.

However, the money I made was enough to buy a WordPress blog and a Bluehost package. After making the payment, I was still in profit.

After migrating the site to WordPress, I applied for a position at Mediavine, a digital advertising agency. I was hired the following month, and things started to get interesting.

My earnings per 1,000 views increased from $0.50 to $30. This had a significant impact on my income.

In addition, I expanded to another platform.

To collect free email subscribers, I created several free e-books. (I put together related blog posts and then used CANVA to convert them into e-books.)

I knew there had to be a way to make some extra money from them.

My wallet remained untouched once again. I didn't want to invest in turning my WordPress blog into an e-commerce site, so I decided to use Gumroad.

2、GUMROAD

Gumroad is completely free, and you can sell digital products, courses, and various items on it.

I uploaded all the e-books and allowed customers to pay what they want. I set the minimum limit at $7.

I don't need to do any work. Gumroad will promote your products, and the more you give back to the platform (I give 50%), the more your products will be displayed in their "Discover" marketplace.

In addition, there is an affiliate marketing option. Others can also recommend your products, yes, they will charge a small fee, but it's worth it. (The higher the fee you charge for your product, the more affiliate sales you will get)

My success is not due to luck. It is achieved through careful planning, full commitment, and following strategies.
